In Minneapolis, what should have been a moment of prayer and music quickly descended into terror as bullets tore through stained-glass windows. Children screamed, teachers shielded students with their bodies, and chaos spread inside a building that called itself \u201cthe house of God, the gate of heaven.\u201d Two children, only 8 and 10 years old, were killed. Seventeen others were injured \u2014 the youngest just six years old.<\/p>\n
This was not a war zone. This was a school. And yet the scene was indistinguishable from one. Wooden pews became barricades, hallways turned into escape routes, and terrified children hid under desks believing they were about to die.<\/p>\n
The shooter, a 23-year-old man with no clear motive, ended his attack by taking his own life \u2014 a pattern America knows too well. Communities mourn, politicians offer prayers, but the system never changes. Guns remain everywhere, and the cycle of violence continues without end.<\/p>\n
For a so-called developed nation, this repeated horror has become a defining feature of American life. Children in the U.S. grow up practicing \u201cactive shooter drills\u201d instead of enjoying their classrooms. Parents live with the daily fear that their child may not come home from school. Places of worship, once symbols of peace, are transformed into crime scenes littered with bullet casings.<\/p>\n
Even religious leaders, overwhelmed with grief, ask why God has been forgotten in such moments. But the real question is why America refuses to confront its addiction to guns and its failure to protect the most vulnerable.<\/p>\n
While communities cry and pray, lawmakers remain paralyzed, trapped between powerful gun lobbies and political cowardice. And so the violence continues, tearing apart families, traumatizing children, and leaving behind yet another headline of bloodshed.<\/p>\n
America likes to call itself exceptional. But in reality, it is exceptionally unable \u2014 or unwilling \u2014 to stop the slaughter of its own children.<\/p>\n
