Photographers Mason Mashon and Colin Kerrigan happened to be at the right place to capture two pilots flying across the total solar eclipse yesterday in Red Bull planes. More specifically, aerobatic pilots Kevin Coleman and Pete McLeod flew four feet apart, 1,500 feet in the sky.<\/p>\n

This wasn\u2019t a spur of the moment idea for the two photographers either, as it required months of preparation, sorting out details of exact locations, flight paths, distances, and most importantly, finding a way to illuminate the plane in near total darkness. The latter required the installation of reflective vinyls on the plane to ensure the wings were visible from the ground.<\/p>\n

There are known settings to capture an eclipse, but when you need to figure out the height of the planes above ground level to frame and scale them perfectly with the eclipse, during totality, it\u2019s a totally different game,\u201d said Mashon<\/i>.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
