Photo Credit: Markos Papadatos<\/small><\/em><\/p>\n On April 14, Dueling Pianos, comprised of Mark Weiser and Matthew Friedman, performed at Burgerology Midtown, for an intimate audience.<\/p>\n Their \u201cShake Rattle & Roll\u201d show was highly eclectic covering a wide spectrum of genres, which included country, rock and roll, rockabilly, pop, reggae, and adult contemporary.<\/p>\n Mark Weiser noted that between him and Friedman they know over 5,000 songs. Matthew Friedman is known for his work on the Billy Joel musical \u201cMovin\u2019 Out\u201d on Broadway.<\/p>\n They sang \u201cHappy Birthday\u201d to a woman in the audience named Eileen, and then, they segued into \u201cCome On Eileen.\u201d They also paid homage to Sir Mix-a-Lot with \u201cBaby Got Back.\u201d <\/p>\n It was followed by the disco anthem \u201cDancing Queen\u201d by ABBA, where the audience members were dancing along with them. \u201cGive these dancers a round of applause,\u201d Weiser said.<\/p>\n Bruce Springsteen\u2019s \u201cBorn to Run\u201d was yet another neat singalong tune. They also paid tribute to Journey with the inspirational \u201cDon\u2019t Stop Believin\u2019,\u201d which is the most downloaded song of all time. <\/p>\n An audience member came up and sang lead vocals on \u201cNew York State of Mind\u201d by Billy Joel while they accompanied him on the piano. They got their \u201cpunk rock\u201d clap going on with a rousing rendition of \u201cI\u2019m Shipping Up to Boston\u201d by Dropkick Murphys.<\/p>\n Equally memorable was their take on Rod Stewart\u2019s \u201cForever Young.\u201d For another birthday in the house, they performed it in a true 50 Cent rap fashion with \u201cIn the Club.\u201d<\/p>\n It was followed by a cover of The Beatles\u2019 \u201cI Saw Her Standing There\u201d and an enthralling take on \u201cGreat Balls of Fire,\u201d where everybody was clapping along. This was a fitting tribute to Jerry Lee Lewis, which was affectionately known as \u201cThe Killer\u201d and \u201crock and roll\u2019s first great wild man.\u201d<\/p>\n For some extra fun they threw in \u201cBaby Shark\u201d in the mix, as well as Lynyrd Skynyrd\u2019s \u201cFree Bird\u201d and Kelly Clarkson\u2019s unapologetic \u201cSince U Been Gone.\u201d<\/p>\n Prior to performing Queen\u2019s \u201cBohemian Rhapsody,\u201d they acknowledged that it is one of the most difficult songs to play; moreover, they invited the audience to help them out by reciting the lyrics (if they knew them).<\/p>\n They continued with Billy Joel\u2019s \u201cScenes From an Italian Restaurant,\u201d and the Aerosmith power-ballad \u201cSweet Emotion,\u201d prior to reprising \u201cBaby Shark.\u201d<\/p>\n Most recently, in honor of fallen NYPD officer Jonathan Diller, which made headlines worldwide, all Burgerology locations served a free burger for all officers in uniform.<\/p>\n Overall, Dueling Pianos put on a joyous and fun brunch show at Burgerology Midtown in the heart of New York. It is recommended that one sees them live when they are in town. <\/p>\n At the same time, Burgerology Midtown provided a warm and intimate setting of a show of this caliber.
