Brad Friedel has urged Aaron Ramsdale to leave Arsenal this summer and explained why Mikel Arteta favours fellow goalkeeper David Raya.<\/p>\n

Ramsdale was Arteta\u2019s No. 1 last season and helped Arsenal challenge for the Premier League title, proving his critics wrong to impress for the Gunners following a \u00a330m move from Sheffield United.<\/p>\n

Despite Ramsdale\u2019s largely consistent performances, Arteta opted to sign Raya on loan from Brentford last summer and the Spaniard quickly displaced Ramsdale as first-choice as the Emirates Stadium.<\/p>\n

The presence of Raya has limited Ramsdale to just six league appearances this season and Friedel believes it is clear that he should move on in the summer.<\/p>\n

Ex-Premier League star Friedel also backed Arteta\u2019s decision to start Raya over Ramsdale, describing both as \u2018very talented goalkeepers\u2019.<\/p>\n

\u2018I think the stats back Mikel Arteta\u2019s decision. I mean, it\u2019s close. We\u2019re talking about two fantastic goalkeepers,\u2019 Friedel told Sky Sports.<\/p>\n

\u2018I think when you look at the stats \u2013 and they\u2019re non-subjective stats so it\u2019s not just about who we like better \u2013 the biggest difference is David Raya\u2019s shot preventing value.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u2018It\u2019s remarkable how quick his feet are when he\u2019s coming out for crosses or sweeping up. That really separated him from Aaron Ramsdale and with the way Arsenal play that might be the tipping point of why they prefer Raya.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u2018Listen, there\u2019s going to come a time where they are going to have to let Ramsdale go. If Raya is the long-term number one, they\u2019ll have to let Ramsdale go.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u2018I think the stats back Arsenal\u2019s faith in Raya and that\u2019s fine, but Ramsdale is too good to be sitting on the bench.\u00a0<\/p>\n
