Rasmus Hojlund says the level of criticism Bruno Fernandes receives is \u2018unfair\u2019 and believes the midfielder has proven himself to be an \u2018amazing captain\u2019 for Manchester United.<\/p>\n Fernandes announced himself as one of the most exciting attacking talents in Premier League football on the back of a \u00a367million switch from Sporting to Old Trafford back in 2020, finishing his first full season in England as United\u2019s top scorer with 28 goals in all competitions.<\/p>\n The 29-year-old has struggled to hit those phenomenal heights over the last three years, but remains a key player and leader in Erik ten Hag\u2019s dressing room, taking over the captain\u2019s armband from Harry Maguire last summer.<\/p>\n And while Fernandes boasts a commendable tally of 15 goals and 11 assists for the Red Devils this term, he has been the subject of heavy criticism from some quarters across what has been an immensely disappointing campaign \u2013 with the club\u2019s top-four hopes seemingly over.<\/p>\n However, United have the chance to finish their difficult campaign on a high when they take to the field for a much-anticipated FA Cup final clash with holders Manchester City at Wembley later this month \u2013 a repeat of last year\u2019s showpiece.<\/p>\n With tensions high at the Theatre of Dreams, reports emerged last week claiming that summer arrival Hojlund had grown frustrated with Fernandes for failing to provide him with enough service.<\/p>\n It\u2019s believed Hojlund even told United\u2019s coaching staff about the apparent problem before the pair dropped their feud \u2013 and it appears the Denmark striker has well and truly put their disagreement to bed.<\/p>\n Speaking to BBC Sport\u2019s Football Focus programme, Hojlund passed on his gratitude to Fernandes for assisting his late goal in United\u2019s 4-2 defeat of Sheffield United and defended the Portuguese over the amount of criticism he faces.<\/p>\n \u2018I just want to tell him: \u201cThanks for the ball, Bruno!\u201d,\u2019 Hojlund said.<\/p>\n \u2018I was very happy for him because he\u2019s also getting a lot of criticism. <\/p>\n \u2018It\u2019s not fair because he\u2019s doing everything at a top level all the time and he\u2019s an amazing captain.\u2019<\/p>\n According to Hojlund, United have the opportunity to \u2018do something special\u2019 by upsetting Manchester City in the cup.<\/p>\n \u2018We have a chance to win the cup. It\u2019s my first chance to win silverware,\u2019 he added.<\/p>\n \u2018For me, this is a big game and I think we have a good chance to do something special now for the rest of the season.\u2019<\/p>\n Hojlund reflected on the \u2018great emotions\u2019 he felt when he finally broke his duck in the Premier League with a dramatic late goal in United\u2019s Boxing Day victory over Aston Villa.<\/p>\n \u2018I was just happy in the end that everything was done and I could finally start playing for my favourite team.
