{"id":6375,"date":"2024-05-02T09:30:48","date_gmt":"2024-05-02T09:30:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/internationalpulse.net\/?p=6375"},"modified":"2024-05-02T09:30:48","modified_gmt":"2024-05-02T09:30:48","slug":"wrexhams-hollywood-owners-plan-new-55000-stadium-bigger-than-chelsea-football","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/internationalpulse.net\/?p=6375","title":{"rendered":"Wrexham&#8217;s Hollywood owners plan new 55,000 stadium bigger than Chelsea | Football"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<figure class=\" img-container shareable-item wp-caption\" style=\"max-width:540px\">\n<div class=\"img-wrap\">\n<p><img decoding=\"sync\" width=\"644\" height=\"429\" data-rsz=\"shrink\" src=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/GettyImages-2148526748.jpg?quality=90&amp;strip=all&amp;zoom=1&amp;resize=644%2C429\" alt=\"Players of Wrexham celebrate victory and promotion into League One following the Sky Bet League Two win over Forest Green Rovers\" class=\"wp-image-20760879\" fetchpriority=\"high\"\/>\n<\/div><figcaption>Wrexham AFC will be playing League One football next season (Picture: Getty)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Wrexham AFC\u2019s Hollywood owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney have revealed plans for a new stadium bigger than Chelsea\u2019s Stamford Bridge.<\/p>\n<p>Reynolds and McElhenney are on a mission to take Welsh club Wrexham from the fifth-tier National League all the way up to the top-level Premier League.<\/p>\n<p>The two actors, best known for their roles in Deadpool and It\u2019s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, have led Wrexham to a historic double promotion to League One.<\/p>\n<p>With Wrexham having clinched a spot in the third-tier for the 2024-25 campaign, they now just need two more promotions to reach the lucrative Premier League.<\/p>\n<p>Reynolds and McElhenney have already transformed the club into a worldwide brand, using their Hollywood status to pull in huge sponsors such as TikTok.<\/p>\n<p>They also produced a critically-acclaimed TV show, Welcome to Wrexham, which has seen the club become widely followed in the USA and around the world.<\/p>\n<p>Reynolds and McElhenney now want to dramatically increase the capacity of Wrexham\u2019s Racecourse Ground stadium from 12,600 all the way up to 55,000.<\/p>\n<figure class=\" img-container shareable-item wp-caption\" style=\"max-width:540px\">\n<div class=\"img-wrap\">\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"540\" height=\"385\" data-rsz=\"shrink\" src=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/GettyImages-1252355475.jpg?quality=90&amp;strip=all&amp;zoom=1&amp;resize=540%2C385\" alt=\"Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds at the FYC event for 'Welcome To Wrexham' held at the Television Academy in LA, California\" class=\"wp-image-20749265\"\/>\n<\/div><figcaption>Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds have huge plans for Wrexham (Picture: Getty)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u2018We have a plan in place right now that would eventually work from stand to stand, so eventually you get all four sides,\u2019 McElhenney told Collider.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018It\u2019s hard to say for sure, but we think we could get between 45-and-55,000 people in there. Like the whole town could come to the game.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>Should Wrexham\u2019s capacity eventually go all the way up to 55,000, it would be significantly bigger than Chelsea\u2019s 40,341-capacity Stamford Bridge.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"post-strip trending-post-strip\" data-nosnippet=\"\" data-vars-type=\"trending-post-strip\" data-track-module=\"trending-post-strip_article\">\n<h3 160-year history, while Chelsea are six-time English champions and two-time European champions.<\/p>\n<p>But it goes to show just how successful Reynolds and McElhenney have been in growing Wrexham\u2019s brand, with huge interest in the team in the United States.<\/p>\n<p>Reynolds and McElhenney\u00a0wanted a new stand open for the start of this season but ongoing delays saw a temporary stand erected instead. \u2018It\u2019s a lot harder to build in the UK than almost anywhere else in the world,\u2019 McElhenney added.<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<span class=\"mor-link\"
