{"id":8166,"date":"2024-05-08T19:57:03","date_gmt":"2024-05-08T19:57:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/internationalpulse.net\/?p=8166"},"modified":"2024-05-08T19:57:03","modified_gmt":"2024-05-08T19:57:03","slug":"at-least-100-dead-and-dozens-still-missing-amid-devastating-floods-in-brazil","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/internationalpulse.net\/?p=8166","title":{"rendered":"At least 100 dead and dozens still missing amid devastating floods in Brazil"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div id=\"\">\n<p>The death toll from <span class=\"link\">devastating floods<\/span> that have ravaged southern Brazil for days reached 100 on Wednesday, authorities said, as the search continued for dozens of people still missing.<\/p>\n<p>Nearly 400 municipalities have been affected by the <span class=\"link\">worst natural calamity<\/span> ever to hit the state of Rio Grande do Sul, with hundreds of people injured and 160,000 forced from their homes.<\/p>\n<p>Many have no access to drinking water or electricity \u2014 or even the means to call for help with telephone and internet services down in many places.\u00a0<\/p>\n<aside class=\"newsletter_signup \">\n<figure class=\"embed embed--type-newsletter-widget embed--float-none embed--size-large embed--type-iframe\" data-ads=\"{\" wordcount=\"\">\n<\/figure>\n<\/aside>\n<p>On Tuesday, state governor Eduardo Leite had warned the human toll was likely to rise as &#8220;the emergency is continuing to develop&#8221; in the state capital of Porto Alegre and other cities and towns.
