{"id":8809,"date":"2024-05-11T18:15:43","date_gmt":"2024-05-11T18:15:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/internationalpulse.net\/?p=8809"},"modified":"2024-05-11T18:15:43","modified_gmt":"2024-05-11T18:15:43","slug":"man-rescued-five-days-after-south-africa-building-collapse","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/internationalpulse.net\/?p=8809","title":{"rendered":"Man rescued five days after South Africa building collapse"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <br \/>\n<br \/><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/gdb.voanews.com\/ee937e0a-f974-4bbf-a054-2187783b66e3_w800_h450.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<div id=\"article-content\">\n<div class=\"wsw\">\n<span class=\"dateline\">JOHANNESBURG \u2014\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>A man was rescued from the rubble five days after a deadly building collapse in South Africa in what Western Cape Premier Alan Winde said was &#8220;nothing short of a miracle.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Officials said in a statement that of 81 people who were on site when the five-story building collapsed on Monday in the city of George, east of Cape Town, 13 were confirmed dead, 29 were alive and 39 were still unaccounted for.<\/p>\n<p>In a post on social media platform X, Winde said on Saturday the survivor had been successfully extracted from the debris after 116 hours.<\/p>\n<p>After Monday&#8217;s collapse, rescuers used cranes, drills and their bare hands to try to reach those trapped.
