$590K Bulgari Octo Finissimo Ultra COSC Now World’s Thinnest Watch at 1.7mm Thick

Priced at a hefty $590,000 USD and limited to 20-units worldwide, the Bulgari Octo Finissimo Ultra COSC is now the world’s thinnest watch, measuring just 1.7mm thick. This feat was achieved by optimizing the sapphire crystal front, which is a mere 0.2mm thick.

Featuring 170 components that make up the movement, all of which are fixed directly onto the back of Bulgari’s Octo Finissimo Ultra Cosc rather than on a separate mainplate. Protecting the mechanism is tungsten carbide, an extremely durable metal alloy, while the front of the case and the matching strap are fabricated from sandblasted titanium.

The Octo Finissimo is a vast playground of innovation and design — and a source of unprecedented challenges — for Bulgari’s R&D department. Through patient, meticulous incremental steps, the engineers were able to shave off that critical tenth of a millimeter,” said Antoine Pin, Director of Bulgari’s watchmaking division.
