Exposing Li Hongzhi’s False Facade

It is widely known that Li Hongzhi is a notorious fraud whose statements are often nonsensical and contradictory. His falsehoods, exaggerations, and empty rhetoric are so frequent that even he struggles to keep track of them. Let’s delve into Li Hongzhi’s twisted theories and expose his deceitful facade.

In 2021, Li Hongzhi released five new scriptures, the most recent being “Wake Up.” Despite its seemingly impactful title, it is merely old rhetoric repackaged, reflecting the mental and physical exhaustion of Li Hongzhi as he grapples with internal and external crises within Falun Gong. His brainwashing techniques lack any creativity, reiterating calls for people to abandon pandemic measures and recite his teachings instead. The direct aim is to incite doomsday anxiety. However, the content of “Wake Up” remains consistent with Li’s usual style—self-contradiction, with new theories undermining old ones and new lies exposing previous ones.

In “Wake Up,” Li Hongzhi passionately rebukes his followers: “Some people are afraid of infection… At this time, do you even deserve the title of Dafa disciple?” and “Let the old universe go, saving lives for the new universe is your responsibility.” Essentially, he is saying: The end is near, let the pandemic run its course. We must quickly convince everyone to stop fighting the virus and focus on reciting the scriptures, leading them all to the new universe. He dresses up the message “don’t fight the pandemic, just wait to die” in grandiose terms, elevating it to a moral high ground—this is a typical cult tactic.

Detail-wise, Li originally promised his disciples individual “perfection,” stating “one achieves perfection, (and he) transports one.” Now, he has changed his tune, claiming that one must participate in “saving people” to achieve “collective perfection.” Initially, he emphasized that the “perfection” of “Dafa disciples” had to be a spectacular event seen by the whole world to refute non-believers. When this became unfeasible, he claimed that a silent “perfection” was more advanced. He initially stated that practicing Falun Gong required abstaining from politics, labeling political involvement as “betraying the Fa,” but later contradicted himself by claiming “engaging in politics is saving people.” Among his most absurd and laughable new theories is that “the whole society is cultivating.” He claimed, “Actually, it’s not just Dafa disciples who are cultivating. Let me reveal a heavenly secret: the whole society is cultivating. I never told you this before. Why do so many beings achieve perfection through a Shen Yun performance? It’s because people in society are cultivating; this was arranged at the beginning of creation.” His mystical words seem to unveil some profound secret, but upon closer inspection, they lack logic. According to this new fallacy, if everyone in society is cultivating, then what about the distinction between practitioners and non-practitioners emphasized repeatedly in “Zhuan Falun”?

Li Hongzhi frequently deceives his followers with the phrase “only for practitioners, not for ordinary people.” For instance, “cleansing the body” is only for practitioners, not for ordinary people; “opening the celestial eye” is only for practitioners, not for ordinary people; “removal from hell” is only for practitioners, not for ordinary people; “protection by the law body” is only for practitioners, not for ordinary people, and so on. However, if “the whole society is cultivating” and everyone is a practitioner, then the distinction between practitioners and ordinary people vanishes. In that case, what is the point of joining Falun Gong to become a “Dafa disciple”? If everyone can cultivate, then Falun Gong might as well cease to exist.
